REACH

Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 18 December 2006 concerning the Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH), establishing a European Chemicals Agency, amending Directive 1999/45/EC and repealing Council Regulation (EEC) No 793/93 and Commission Regulation (EC) No 1488/94 as well as Council Directive 76/769/EEC and Commission Directives 91/155/EEC, 93/67/EEC, 93/105/EC and 2000/21/EC

Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006, known as REACH, governs the safe production, use, and marketing of chemical substances within the European Union. Its scope includes all chemical substances – whether used in industrial processes or consumer products – and applies to manufacturers, importers, and downstream users. REACH requires companies to register substances with the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA), assess their risks, and obtain authorisation for substances of very high concern. It also restricts or bans hazardous chemicals in specific applications, aiming to protect human health and the environment while promoting transparency and innovation in the chemical industry.

CLP Regulation

Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 16 December 2008 on classification, labelling and packaging of substances and mixtures, amending and repealing Directives 67/548/EEC and 1999/45/EC, and amending Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006

Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008, known as the CLP Regulation, establishes a unified framework for the classification, labelling, and packaging of chemical substances and mixtures within the European Union. Its scope includes all industrial and consumer chemicals placed on the EU market, ensuring that hazards are clearly communicated through standardized symbols and statements. The regulation aligns EU rules with the UN’s Globally Harmonized System (GHS), replaces earlier directives, and complements the REACH Regulation by promoting safe handling and informed use of chemicals across supply chains.

Regulation (EC) No 396/2005
