EFEO & IFEAT Comments on the CLH Consultation for Spearmint Oil
5 September 2025 – The European Federation of Essential Oils (EFEO) and the International Federation of Essential Oils and Aroma Trades (IFEAT) fully support the comments submitted by the REACH lead registrant on behalf of the REACH consortium for spearmint oil.
In our opinion the available data does not support classification of spearmint oil as Reproductive Toxicity Category 2. The observed effects are either secondary to maternal toxicity or not treatment-related, and the evidence does not meet the criteria for classification under CLP.
